What is FlyBoarding?
THE BASICS OF THE TECHNOLOGY: A Flyboard is a type of ``water jetpack`` attached to a personal watercraft (PWC) otherwise known as a JetSki. The JetSki supplies propulsion to drive the Flyboard through air and water to perform a sport known as Flyboarding. A Flyboard pilot stands on a board connected by a long hose to the JetSki. Water is forced under pressure to a pair of boots with jet nozzles underneath that provide thrust for the rider to fly potentially up to 40 feet in the air or to dive headlong through the water!
THE SAFETY OF THE OPERATION: We at Ark-La-Tex Flyboard have fun, but never at the expense of your safety. All participants wear a life vest and helmet. The Flyboard itself also floats, so there is no danger of sinking and struggling beneath the surface of the water. Swimming is not only unnecessary; it's not possible. When a participant is tired, he or she simply lays on the water surface and relaxes.
As trained, vigilant, and caring operator, we insure pilots are always at a safe distance from the JetSki to avoid contact with it. We also carefully control pilot height as we monitor your body movement, foot position, and direction. Fliers will remain at training heights of around five feet until coordinated and comfortable enough to begin climbing higher. While the flyboard is capable of approaching heights of 40+ feet, we will NEVER fly learners anywhere near that height. That is reserved for seasoned fliers. Rest assured: We will make sure you have a blast. More importantly, we will make sure you are safe!
THE THRILL OF THE FLIGHT: Flyboarding even a few feet off the water is an exhilarating experience for first-time fliers. After gaining coordination and control, most fliers learn just how much control over height and speed they actually have (it's not all about the throttle), and they experience freedom of flight at heights well over 10' and even 20' at times. For even the seasoned skier, wakeboarder, of sky diver, the experience is an unmatched thrill!
The more you fly, the better you get. Most people are flying within the first 10 minutes of training. From that point, the sky's the limit! You can be a weekend flier or the World Cup Champion! There are 2 Major Competitions each year: the North American Flyboard Championship and the World Cup! Hope to see you there!
